Shortcut to Avoid Confusion
Did you ever consider having an own internet business? Poor you... and poor me, since I've been going through the process and want to give some good advice for others here. It's been a confusing and expensive journey in the last few weeks. Even smart enought to find a lot of FREE stuff, tips and techniques, I still ended up pulling my Credit Card several times in order to get the 'latest, hottest, big-bucks-in-a-day' courses and tools. Some of them were inspiring, I have to admit.... but in the end I was happy enough to find my personal solution to go for business instead of 'secret techniques', and saving myself a lot of money! TIP #1: Don't go the long way that I did, if you consider an own web page or even want to earn online! You really have to be extremely careful and disciplined with any payments - most of the courses either give you knowledge you already have, or just confuse you even more. TIP #2: If you started the same way I did, you'll drown in a flood of follow-up-emails, each one of them trying to make you a customer for another 'top last-minute opportunity' or 'one-time-only offer' (I had more than 300 mails in one week only). Most of them follow the motto: 'Give something... then sell them something... then sell them more'. So you'd surely do good to save some disk space for free e-books, bonus gifts etc. that you'll receive from free memberships. Or: Save your nerves (shortcut to TIP #8)! At least take care that you give them a seperate email adress. Mostly what you get is just another sales pitch for a product. TIP #3: Most important - stay targeted! It's natural that all the hype makes you think 'this is it'. Just consider: It's been made from the best marketers for exactly that purpose :-) Don't let everybody drive you into some affiliate program, place ads etc. If you don't have your own webpage, you'll do nothing than grow other peoples mailing lists and waste your time. TIP #4: If you have a business idea, you WILL have to use proper tools and services to succeed - there's no two ways. There are good, free tools out there which help webmasters. Although I appreciated them, they didn't help me (newbie) in any way. Shortcut to #8: I found out how hundreds of invaluable tools I actually can use are FREE - niche-finding, brainstorming, SEO, Keywords and even spreading my own e-book aren't big issues anymore (but first I had to go the extra mile). TIP #5: Depending on your passion for 'tech stuff', explore free information on forums (you still have to opt-in, but they don't go bother you :-) at least). E.g. if you're into the AdSense issue, you'll find a lot of valuable information on http://www.adsensechat.com/ TIP #6: If you want to make your own site, you'll find superior free website building tools like Joomla!, WordPress or Kompozer on the web (type one of them into google and add "+download" to exclude irrelevant links). It's at least fun for learning purposes. BUT CONSIDER: Even if you master the techniques, it's only one of many steps to successful online business. You'll be confronted with many additional questions, e.g.: - what kind of site do I actually want - how do I change design and handle layout templates - how do I get free traffic to my site (without spamming) - which SEO (seach-engine-optimization) tool to use - which keywords to use - how to find out what competition does - how to monetize your site (wasn't that the initial goal?) and a lot of other most confusing issues! Some of them include ever-changing techniques that even professional webmasters can't follow up in full. TIP #7: As long as you don't pay, it's always good to get as much (free) information as you can... and there are many free tips and techniques even on the sites that want to sell to you. My favourites became http://www.myaffiliatetips.com (just to make it clear: i'm not affiliated with them) where I found a lot of useful information and reviews. BUT: Stay just as careful and disciplined - in the end you might be going to buy a lot of the 'common affiliate stuff' they offer with these sites. TIP #8: Go the short and cheap way! Check out my link below (yes, I AM affiliated with them and so you can!) to go the straight way, it's definitely worth it! For the price of hosting only (which you anyway need!), you get ALL THE TOP-NOTCH TOOLS and techniques for FREE, an easy-to-use and completely no-tech newbie-process, an overwhealming bunch of FREE information and training materials, real serious MENTORSHIP from other users, the best support I saw in years, and much much more. My confusion is over and I'm passionate for the real goal again :-) Now that my brain is free from the overload, more and more ideas are coming out-of-the-blue... and I'm even thinking about additional sites which I'm going to make for my children (yes, my daughter can even make more than pocket money just from sharing her passion for Bollywood movies). To your success!
